Nicolas Cage in Post-Apocalyptic Sci-Fi Survival Film ‘Arcadian’ Trailer
“I don’t want to hide from them anymore…” RLJE Films has revealed an official trailer for an indie sci-fi thriller titled Arcadian, arriving in theaters in April to watch. This is first premiering at the 2024 SXSW Film Festival this weekend. The post-apocalyptic survival thrillers has creatures that come at night, kind of like A Quiet Place. In a near future, normal life on Earth has been decimated.
Paul and his two sons, Thomas & Joseph, have been living a half-life – tranquility by day and torment by night. One day, Thomas doesn’t return home on time from a visit to the nearby farm girl. Paul chooses to leave the safety of their fortified farm, risking his life to find Thomas. Just as he finds his boy, a nightmarish battle ensues.
The film stars Nicolas Cage, Jaeden Martell, Maxwell Jenkins, and Sadie Soverall. The title Arcadian refers to the life they’re living: “rural, rustic, or pastoral, especially suggesting simple, innocent contentment.” It looks similar to many other creature features, but hoping it’s good anyway. The ending is intense! Tons of action.
“What drew me to the project was the brothers at the center of the story and their close bond. That’s something I can relate to very deeply. I liked the idea that the coming-of-age story could be rendered in a sort of Mad Max apocalypse world, giving these recognizable tropes of growing up a dark fairytale hue, and I was also excited to have an opportunity to work with Nicolas Cage again.” –Director Benjamin Brewer
In a near future, normal life on Earth has been decimated. Paul and his sons, Thomas & Joseph, have been living a half-life – tranquility by day and torment by night. Every night, after the sun sets, they face the unrelenting attacks of a mysterious and violent evil.
One day, when Thomas doesn’t return home before sundown, Paul must leave the safety of their fortified farm to find him. A nightmarish battle ensues that forces the family to execute a desperate plan to survive. Arcadian is directed by American indie filmmaker Benjamin Brewer, director of the films Beneath Contempt and The Trust previously, plus a few shorts and music videos.
The screenplay is by Mike Nilon. It’s produced by Nicolas Cage, Arianne Fraser, Michael Nilon, Braxton Pope, David M. Wulf. This is premiering at the 2024 SXSW Film Festival this month. RLJE Films will then release Arcadian in select US theaters starting on April 12th, 2024 this spring. Look good?
