Darren ‘IShowSpeed’ Watkins Jr. was recently spotted reflecting on his love for the racket sport during his visit to Doha to attend the Qatar Open. The popular American online streamer and YouTuber met quite a few tennis stars during the tour. But who does he think is the GOAT of tennis?
Well, surprisingly the 22 times Grand Slam champion, Rafael Nadal has no room in Speed’s GOAT table as he named ‘Roger Djokovic‘ as the greatest. But sadly for him, neither of his GOATs took part in this year’s Qatar Open. But the YouTube sensation didn’t go back empty-handed. He met the Russian tennis star, Karen Khachanov. Let’s hear from him more about this.
Before meeting Khachanov, while walking through the beautiful Khalifa International Tennis and Squash complex in Doha he stated “I am here to watch Murray Man… Nadal play man…Medvedev play man…I am here to watch my man Ruby(Rublev) play you know. I am here to watch the goats play. This is tennis.” When asked about who is the ‘Real GOAT” in tennis, IShowSpeed said, “Oh, Roger Djokovic.“
During their meeting, both the superstars in their respective fields then exchanged some greetings. The Russian tennis star also seemed to be curious to know what happened to him after seeing Speed using crutches to walk. Khachanov later went on to clinch the title in Doha. IShowSpeed effect?
He visited Qatar to participate in Qatar’s charity football game “Match for Hope”, which was organized by QLife in association with EAA(Education Above All) and Qatar Football Federation. He met quite a few sports stars over there as well. But last year his meeting with Novak Djokovic remains one of the funniest moments you’ll ever come across surrounding this 19YO American superstar.
“I’m a new AC Milan star” -Novak Djokovic to Speed
Last year, the Serbian tennis star shared his funny side with IShowSpeed when they met backstage at the Ballon d’Or awards ceremony in Paris. Speed hosted a special IRL live stream from the Ballon d’Or event at Paris’ Theatre du Chatelet. Novak Djokovic was also invited to this mega event in October last year.
After meeting Djokovic, the American streamer asked him, “Hey bro, what’s your name? You look so familiar.” To this, the world number one tennis player hilariously trolled him saying, “I’m the new AC Milan star. I haven’t played yet but I’m getting on in the next game. Going for the hat trick.“
Djokovic seemed to have convinced the young lad with his answer that time. But later on, when he came to know about his real identity, Speed stated, “Why did this dude f**king lied to me, bro?” Although he acknowledged the Serbian as the best tennis player in the world, once he had even labeled Serena Williams and Tiger Woods as the same.
Let us know in the comment section below which tennis player you think IShowSpeed likes the most.
